Troll motor on new boat?

I am in the process of getting ready to order a Erya!!!!! I have always been a MG user, I love the way they look on the boat, the metal foot control and I have had great reliability out of them. But………I hear more good things out of the MK……….and the Mk-5 has a plastic foot control now. HmmmmI am considering going with the MK 112 Fortex….I hear that they are much tighter and make less noise.What do you guys think?Thank you in advance Elwood…..Bass Cat Proud

You may want to check out the ultrex MK is coming out with. the spot lock would come in very handy if fishing open water or have a breakoff in windy conditions.

The Ultrex from MK (I Pilot version) is supposed to be available starting sometime in October, and the “link” version in December.

Just remember as a MG user in the past, you will have to get used to the on button being on the other side of the pedal. Some people dont care, but to some like me it matters a lot.

I HAVE USED TWO OF THE MK 112 . YOU COULD NOT RUN FAST ENOUGH TO GIVE ME ONE AND I HAD MK FOR YEARS ( MOUNTS HAVE ALOT OF PLAY, MOTORS ARE LOUDER THAN MY 109 TOUR ) AND THE FOOT CONTROL FEELS CHEAP.

Ive always been a MG user and went to a MK on my 2016. I love it and not missing a MG one bit!

I went from a Fortrex to an MG on my new Cougar and the mount is quiet compared to the creeky Fortrex. Another thing to consider is the added weight of the Fortrex. If youre looking for top speed with the Eyra, than you want to keep the weight off the bow. That includes adding weight with graphs and graph mounts. Every pound up there will cost you speed.

I run a mg tour for several yrs on my older cat. On my p2 I have a mk. Each have their pros and cons. The mg was always hard to steer. The mk is very easy to steer. The new mg may be easier than the older tours I dnt know. My mk is a 13 model. It was a little “creaky”. I put a bushes kit in . Quiet once again. Ive run both and like both. Do I have a specific preference? Guess I would lean toward the mk simply because of the easy steering and the lift assist. Sure you can buy a add on lift assist for the mg. I am a Minn Kota guy myself, I aint been able to destroy one beyond repair yet. I was told that Motor Guide itself as a company is up for sale. If that help you make a decision on what to buy.
