Trolling Motor Batteries????

Batteries suggested by BCB : Pro-Guide 31MAGM. Pro-Guide 31XMAGM. Exide Megacycle MC-31 and XMC-31. Deka Sea Mate 8A27M and 8A31DTM. Odyssey PC1500, PC1700, PC2150, and PC2250. Optima Group 31. West Marine Sea Volt Group 27 AGM. Cabelas Advanced Angler* Group 24 and 27 Sears Die Hard Platinum 34M and 31M.

Mercury reccommends : 1000 Marine Cranking Amps (MCA) or 750 Cold Cranking AMPS (CCA) I prefer at least 900 cca for starting battery, and have had good luck with the Die Hard line, and the group 27 Interstate, which are both 180min. reserve capacity rated, i think. Try the Odyssey PC 1500 for trollers and the PC 2150 for starting. I have had 3 Optima 31s in the past for starting and was not impressed. I now have the PC 2150 and its a beast. Imagine all the wasted area that could be used if the Optimas did not have the round spirals. The best I got out of one was two years. Had two of them go bad the first year, however like you friend some have had better luck than I. Sheff
