trolling motor batteries/3 bank charger/2011 P II

I have a 2011 PII that will be 2 yrs old in a month. I do fish alot and charge my batteries every time after fishing. Today I was practicing for a tournament and I lost trolling motor power early in the afternoon. Normally when I plug the 3 bank charger in, all 3 batteries show red on the charger. It doesnt take much time for the cranking battery to be charged and the trolling motor batteries take a couple of hours. Today when I plugged the charger in, batteries one and three where showing green and the middle battery was showing red. I am trying to figure out if I have a bad battery(s) or a problem with the charger. Can someone give me an idea, what might be wrong. I am not very mechanically minded. I also could not find a manual for the battery charger. THANKS!

Reverse the leads to another battery to determine if it is the battery or the charger compatability, or a bad charger bank. Swapping the leads sometimes takes care of it, it also helps diagnose issues.

Also your boat is under warranty and your charger also. So if the charger is bad your covered.

Just trying to help.Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!

I replaced the “old” batteries this morning with Deka (sp) 31s. I fished all day. I came home and put the charger on. The same thing happened. Batteries one and three showed greeen and battery two was red (charging). BCB, I sent you an e-mail regarding this matter. If you would call me Monday, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Just a suggestion, but why dont you plug the charger in and put a multimeter on each battery? Depending on your battery chargers charging profile, you should see 14 to 15 volts on each battery, representing each bank of the charger, while they are topping your batteries off. If you have a bank thats not charging at all, you will read battery voltage only. After a days fishing, I would expect the battery voltage to be 12 volts or less. When the charger goes to the float or maintenance mode it will be less than 14 volts. With new batteries now, this would be a logical next step in your troubleshooting.

Apdriver is right. Good advice. If you arent that technical with voltmeters you could just swap leads on batteries one and two. The light indications should follow the new placements of the wires. Then you know for sure that it is a charger problem, which it seems to be at this point. Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!

Ill swap the leads on the trolling motor batteries and see what happens. I have a friend that is going to stop by within a day or two and he will check the batteries/charger with a voltmeter etc. Thanks for all your help!
