12.8 is a fully charged battery sitting static. That seems pretty good on the voltage. They should be up to the 14 volt range while charging. Sounds like the plates are sulfated and a couple of hard charges by a bigger resin ferule transformer charger would knock them up a bit. BCB

A charger on wheels that can produce some decent amps and voltage.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

It is the big bad azz charger you see at car lots. I think?
There are many batteries out on the market. No, you dont have to replace Trojans with Trojans. Walmart has an MAXX battery that is a deep cycle cost around 85.00 They have a 3 year warranty with 18 month free replacements. And to your last question. It is not normal for the trolling motor batteries to be wired from the engine running. Typically, it is just the starting battery that gets a charge while running down the lake.
Thentrolling motor batteries are not that critical and you are trading dependability for a sooner replacement. In the end dollars will be close to the same often. Go ahead and fork out the cash for the heaviest AGM cranking battery you can find. Also a garage (Wall) timer will also help your battery life cycle by topping off regularly.
I have an 05 puma with a 110 minkota on it. I currently have 3 trojan deep cycle batteries. I bought the boat 2.5 years ago and noticed last weekend only got about 6 hours of run time. I think i need some new batteries. My question is do i need a similiar style such as the trojans or will just about any deep cycle battery work? I am just a recreational fisherman couple times a weekend so not sure if I want to fork out the $ for trojans again unless in the long run its a better way to go. Plus a charging question when the boat is running does it charge the trolling motor batteries as it does the main battery? Thanks for the help kind of learning as I go with this boat any suggestions greatly appreciated .
We doubt anyone has though they should work fine.
Sounds like the jumper cable betwen the two batteries to give you the 24 volts. The two red knobs sound like the terminals on the breaker on the jumper. Post a pic if you can. And yes, you will need two jumpers to connect the three batteries in a 36 volt system
Yeah, they are the breakers. Little black box with two long red knobs. But why are they connected from positive on one to the negative on the other? Shouldnt it go from positive to positive and negative to negative? Guess I need to do some research on 24 and 36 volt setups and theory.
Nope, theyre wired in series, which makes your individual 12v batteries work like one 24v battery:https://www.trollingmotors.net/media/wy … wiring.png 2011 Sabre FTD w/ Mercury 150 Pro XS, Power Pole Sportsman 2s, Humminbird 898 w/ 360 and 858 at bow, 898 at ConsoleFor lots of BCB love, follow me on instagram: @professorbeard
If you go to Johns web site (Jones Trolling Motors), he has some very good wiring diagrams of the different set ups
Cool, thanks
