Replacing the stator in the motor head is possible, and not that difficult if you have a lot of mechanical ability and the tools. It may just need some cleaning up on the brush area. Otherwise take it to a Minn Kota service center and they can test for seal leaks, shaft run out and the switches as well. Should not be that expensive to repair. I replaced the stator, bearings and seals in mine last year for under $100. But I have the runout gages & tools to do all that stuff.
