I know this has been asked before….. I want to go from a motorguide tour digital 109 to a minn Kota fortrexx 101. What kind of problems am I going to run into? Do any of the holes match up? Will the Minn Kota plug go into the socket I already have or does that have to be replaced too?
You may match a few holes and you could redrill the bracket and relocate mounting bolt also. We are not able to simply bolt up as the location of the offset at the bow for docking and loading requires a different pattern for us.
The electrical plug is wired to each trolling motor and you will simply move it from one to the other. If your speaking of a transducer connection they will not cross over.
Will the male part on the new fortrexx plug into the female part that will be left behind when I remove the Motorguide or will it have to be replaced with a new female part? This is started to sound bad lol but is the female part that is installed into the bow of my boat universal? Will it accept both the male fortrexx and Motorguide plugs?
You simply remove the male plug currently attached to the MotorGuide wire and re-attach it to the wires of the Minn Kota. Chip ReavesU.S. Army Retired (Aviation)Cougar FTD/250 ProXSShell Knob, MO/Cape Coral,FL
High Cotton, can I ask why are you switching? I had Minn Kota on my other boat. Now I have a motor guide on my Cat. Comparing the two at 1 time I would not own a motor guide. But now I am feel totally opposite now.
