Ive got a 15 caracal and just recently changed from a motor guide to a minnkota. The minnkota has a problem of binding on the left side. This happens going down and especially when trying to stow, most of the time I have to turn the foot to the left and engage the motor to get it to release from the locked position. Thought it might have been the base on the trolling motor but I have recently bought a new base and it is just as bad.

Are you using the rubber pad isolators. If so, dont. The MinnKota is made to mount flush to the deck. If the arm doesnt clear the switches, but a square spacer under the entire mount. Use the SS hardware with nyloc nuts to mount and make sure all are tightened evenly. Be sure you placed the bracket in the existing bolt pattern and your have to remove e side cover plate to access the screw holes that align to the MotorGuide oil pattern the plastic base fits.

Ok thanks I did use the existing holes and will remove the rubber isolators

The plastic base BCB installs should fit fine and those small rubber washers are all you need.
