Truck tire question for towing Cougar…

Checking to see whether towing Cougar with P275.65.18 tires are more than adequate…Ive been recommended to run LT/E rated tires for towing vs P rated tires…Not exactly sure what my 06 Cougar FTD and tandem weighs & tongue weight is…Truck is 11 Tundra…Thanks in advance

The P rated tires are fine, just as they are on your boat trailer. Dont worry, the load rating on the tires is more than adequate.

The best tires for wet traction and gas mileage combined in my experience have been the Wrangler AT/S. Firestone Destination A/T is a close second.- Chaz

Depends on the vehicle. I had a 3/4 ton Avalanche that came with “E” rated tires. When it came time to replace them, I wasnt hauling heavy loads and tried to save a couple of bucks by going to a lower rated tire. BIG mistake! Handling suffered terribly.
