My brother just put a solid fiberglass color-matched cover on the bed of his 08 GMC and it looks great and offers good security. The problem with this arrangement is that he CANNOT carry anything in the bed of his truck taller than the top of the fiberglass cover. Sure, he could call two of his neighbors over to help him lift the entire assembly off, but that really is a pain, and where to store the cover in the meantime is a challenge too. If he could have a do-over, he wouldve opted for one of the retractable covers that offer similar and solid out-of-sight security, but allow him to haul items such as a washer/dryer, etc. Of course the drawback to the retractable covers is they can be tough to open if they get wet and ice up, and the box they retract into does take up a little room in the front of the truck bed. Me thinks he would be fine losing a little bed space in order to haul tall items without having to lift off a solid fiberglass bed cover everytime!
