U bolt on trailer

What is the U bolt for that is up in the front of the trailer under the winch area? It’s probably something completely obvious but I can’t figure it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The U bolt is for hooking the bow strap to while the trailer is empty. I use it to put a retractable winch bow hold down on. Extra safety never hurts.

My Puma has a safety chain attached there so if the winch strap was broken in transit there would be a backup safety mechanism.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It is for a safety chain as described above. But I also attach my winch strap there when the boat is not on the trailer for travel, like at the OI where the boat was in the water for several days.Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
