I am new to the Bass Cat family. i purchased a 2017 Puma and love it. However, I upgraded from the motor guide to the Ultrex. Now I cannot open the rod box. Is everyone having that same issue? If not how are you mounting it so as to not interfere with the box? I have the 52″ and feel that is the right length. I mounted is so that the head is not angled outside of the top edge of the boat. Really the only way I see is to mount it some 6-8 inches further forward. Then the front of the Utrex will over hang so far that on some ramps I would have loading problems. I can live with it as it is. But it is a hassle to have to lift the troll motor in order to open the rod box. Thanks Mark

Thanks Guys, another friend of mine with Eyra seemed to think that I had installed it wrong. Just checking with some others to see. I know the Lynx and Jaguar are different. They have a larger deck.

PS I love the Ultrex!!! It is in my opinion well worth the money to upgrade.

Do yourself a BIG favor….and dont worry about this issue. If you have the stablizer installed, just prop the trolling motor handle below the stablizer when you want to get into your rodbox,when the Ultrex is stowed……it will prop your TM up just enough to open the lid, and clear the TM in doing so……no big deal at all…..much worth it to get the added benefits of the 52″ shaft…..Good Luck,Sean
