Thinking of getting an ultrex put on my 2015 cougar advantage should I get the 45 or 52 shaft???

Depends on your fishing water/style. Most Basscats handle a 45″ really well, but if youre fishing in a lot of wave action lakes, then go with the 52″

Go with the longest shaft you can that wont be in the way of opening lids. You wont be sorry.

Ive got a 2016 cougar. The ultrex has a 45″. Wish I would have gotten the 52. Doesnt have to be big waves and the motor chops the surface. It is lowered as far down as it can be

I went round and round on this myself. I settled on the 52″ for my 2008 Cougar and am really happy with it! I am glad I chose the longer shaft. It does prevent the rod box from opening all the way when stowed, but it is still easy to get rods in and out. It opens about 80%. There is also some interference with the bow light. I have to pull it before lowering the motor and reinstall when stowed. Im looking at installing the LED bow light from the BCB store.

My son told me last night that the bow light isnt much of an issue if you stow the TM the prop facing out.
