On my recently purchased Pantera IV, the previous owner told me he never used the rear tanks, only the under-seat tank. So, I’m not sure they have ever been used, but I do know it has been possibly a decade since they were used seriously.
While I can certainly get great performance as I am using it now, I was wondering the following things about using the rear tanks:
1. What would be the main advantage of using those tanks in terms of performance? Would I get better rough water handling? I expect more speed: is that likely? Would it make it more likely to chine walk.
2. If the tanks have not been used in a while, what would I need to do before I pumped them full of gas to make sure I’m not going to do damage to the engine? If there is something I need to do, is it something I can do on my own or should I go to a service provider/mechanic?
I may never do it, but I would like to know what I would be getting into.
Thanks.
