Used boat advice

I dont know an easy way to track boats by HIN.Its easy to see how a BassCat has been used to me-Get a computer printout on the motor if possible. If not get the compression checked and the hours.Have lower unit serviced for any significant metal shavings in lower unit oil or water.As for the boat I would- #1- Get under it and look at it. Sure there are gonna be scratches. Look at the rear corners underneath and up the sides for any other issues. Scratches are fine. Cracks on the bottom are sometimes not ok. #2- Run it for a few minutes and make sure it runs well. Open the rear lid and make sure its dry in the sump after you have run it some. #3- Run the pumps- Id probably stop fast once and let some water over the back and make sure it will pump out. #4- Check the lights. #5- Run the troller/electronicsSold! I personally would never purchase a used boat unless I could examine the entire hull off of the trailer, so I guess I am saying until the water is warm enough to get in and look for blisters under the trailer bunks. As well as what ward and doug have noted. John S.
