Vault Bearing Question

I know this gets kicked around pretty regular but I thought I would ask the gurus on the forum. I have a 2011 Sabre with single axle vault bearings. The boat only has 60 hours on it so it doesnt get used as much as most or pulled long distances. My question is, being as I dont see any sign of leakage do I do nothing, just keep an eye on them, change the oil in the bath, or change bearings and all? I know it is a crap shoot but I thought I would see what some you you thought. Also, this is the first summer I have owned the boat but i am confident nothing has been done to them previous to me purchasing it. Thanks in advance.

If you watch for leaks carefully, AND check hub temps every time you tow, you will probably be OK. I cant operate like that. I personally replace seals every year as I pull the boat 3-4 times a week, almost every week unless it gets REALLY cold. Ive probably wasted a bit of money on seals (not expensive) and grease (ditto). But I have also never been stranded by a bearing / spindle failure in 40 years of towing, which I will gladly exchange for a couple of hours of labor in the driveway and 20 bucks of parts/grease.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

They are even warranted for ten years, I believe, for the original owner with a little paperwork. With a warranty like that, the manufacturer believes in them.

First off is to watch for leaks… you will know when it goes. Second is to monitor the black cap… as long as it is past the stainless holder it has pressure grease reserve. Last is heat/noise any signs are early warning signs. I removed cleaned and reinstalled mine once when I bought it used and again this year after a brake pad failure. A very simple job. For me this has been the hardest thing to get used to. I also have always pulled my hubs yearly and resealed, packed bearings, or replaced if needed. Although the vault system does not require this. Although i visually inspect the inner backs of my hub regulary. Espesically after pulling out at the ramp checking for wrapped fishing line (this is the biggest cause of seal failure and leading to bearing failure.). I also check the heat of my hubs on at least once on my 30 minute travel to the ramp by touching it with my hand and as the instruction says jack your trailor up and check for looseness.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will keep an eye on them and swap out the bearings and seals this winter.
