Vent Plugs on a 25p Tempest Plus?

Will missing one vent plugs have any effect on the performance of my P-IV, 200 optimax spinning a 25p Tempest Plus? Will it hurt the top end? I Hit 69.5gps the other day with full tanks and gear. I was told by a mercury dealer (that mainly sells HPDIs) that on Take off, I am putting greater force on the other 2 blades. Possibly damaging the prop if I do not use same size vent plugs on all three openings? 2nd Question, How do I tighten my trolling motor screws to the deck? When I Turn the screws they do not tighten. Am I missing a nut in the inside? duh Thanks for any help you might bring….Gene

The vent plugs will not bother top end performance at all, they are there for adjustments on your holeshot. As far as putting more force on the other two blades, I dont think you are hurting them as long as the other two that have plugs are at least medium suze or large size plugs. If you were running two blocked off and one open then I might could see where it would put more force on the other two. I try to keep mine as close to the same as possible, but they do not have to be all the same.

You probably need to remove the access plate near the trolling motor to tighten the screws. Sounds like the nut is turning below the mount.
