What voltage reading should I get for compartment light connections?

Dont remember what they are, but its a lot less than 12v.

It depends on then year model and where you are reading the voltage. If your trying to install LED lighting you will need to add a resister.

I am trying to get existing lights to work. I have 5.45 volts at each lite socket, but some strips will not come even though they have this reading. Others have this reading, and they function properly. All grounds have been redone, and wiring checked for good contact. Any idea why some strips wont light up?

We dont know what year model this rig is, though the lights provide the resistance to activate the touch pad. The problem can be in the ground connections on boats with a mercury switch, and try bypassing the switch and connection to activate them. They should work and then you can determine what the issue is. Though if it is a new boat with LED lights, then those have had a slight amount of trouble with the end mounting on the LED strip. We still prefer the incandescent, though we can no longer get the incandescent light strips. BCB

I have a 2006 puma if I was going to install led lights in the compartments what would I need to do for them to work. Already tried this once and lights were dim enless old style blub was in place and turned on somewhere in the boat.

Please give Service a call on this lighting issue browning. They can help trouble shoot it over the phone. The number is 870-481-5135, M-F, 8-4:30pm CST. Electrical issues are tough long distance. You need a resistor from Radio Shack on each light installed to increase current and activate the system.
