Just wondering if it is normal for a dealer to take 2 weeks to send title and registration forms on a boat. Have the boat in my shed but no paperwork with it, sucks that I cant even take it to the lake for a spin yet. Just get to set and look at it. No bill of sale, no nothing. To clear up any confusion the boat came from a state where nothing was titled, where I live everything must be titled.

We are not aware of a reason for a delay in registration. The state might be different than we are aware of, though we know of no delays other than the instances which provide temporary operation permits, while you wait for registration. Those generally are full verification of the registration process being activated.

imo if it was me Id take it out. the day I bought mine I had it on lake Michigan. lol maybe its just me but I wouldnt just let it sit, id take it out and enjoy it. just my.02

ANy state I ever lived in I just carried the purchase paperwork with me, I believe most states will give you 30 days. Id be out on the lake as long as its insured… you say No bill of sale as in you dont have anything indicating you bought the boat from a dealer? That does not sound something dealers should be doing. You should have something saying its yours and you paid for it.

Dealer SHOULDVE given you some sort of paperwork . — Seeing as how its a used boat , you never know what could be going on . — A phone call to the local sheriffs office to check boat #s may be in order . –Last edited by BIGCATTER on July 29th, 2013, 6:31 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Sounds to me like they sold you a boat they had on consignment, that they didnt actually own, and now have to chase down the previous owner for paper work. Happened to my parents once on a vehicle.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
