Be careful with aftermarkets. They can find loop holes. However, if your nearby wrench has a good relationship with one, then I would say go ahead. Key though is the mechanic needs to have that relationship.
John, We do not suggest any of the aftermarket companies. Which is also a beef we had with the previous BRP promotions, which were not in house. They are all in house programs now, and that is our only suggestion. BCB
In my business we see a lot of aftermarket extended warranties on Motor Coaches. Some or OK at best!!! Most or sold to retired couples who enjoy traveling in there golden years. We had a big Prevost coach (new about $750,000.00) in the shop the other day and the Cummins engine crapped. The coach had almost 500,000 miles on it. The aftermarket warranty company send us a used motor from a salvage yard that had about the same amount of mile on it to put in it. READ the fine print most say they will replace with LIKE parts, not NEW. As said BCB I would suggest staying in house with warranties.
You can take it to the local dealer no matter where it came from. Some are very cooperative to earn your business. The depth finder is not a warranty BCB item, and since it is Lowrance it does not carry over a one year from new warranty. The compartment lights are probably the screws needing tightened and loose grounds. The Ice Chest lid rivets are probably not warranty as they are usually sheared from being forced. Though it all depends on condition as to whether it is warranty or not.
How do i go about transfering my warranty and how much does it cover ? How about things like seats and lights ?
Great question.
I assume you are talking about the motor right? There are a few third party warranty sources.I would discuss with your dealer first as that will be your point man on such a subject.I will roll my etec to FPC- First Protection at the end of 12. I know the experience with FPC locally has been very good but their source for parts is here as well. You will hear all sorts of stories about 3rd parties. Good and Bad.Honestly that is one of the great things about the mercury product to me. They will let you buy extended from them. Cant say too much more than that regarding company confidence in a product. Also like Suzuki- man they will give you a sick warranty regarding their product right off the bat like 6 years.Shorter warranties = shorter confidence in just about anything. Simple accounting.Ultimate warranty? Take a look at the sticker on the top cap of your boat near the rear! http://www.reclending.com is who has my 04 Mercury under warranty right now. It has a $100 deductable, and seems to cover a lot as per the paperwork. I have yet to really have any work done other than the normal yearly maintenance. They also have another product that covers the other things on the boat, i.e. trolling motor, electronics, fishing gear, etc…Last edited by SuicideNemesis on March 25th, 2011, 1:03 am, edited 1 time in total.- Chaz
There are several options for 3rd party “aftermarket” warranties depending on age and type of motor can limit options..There are even tournament plans that can cover your equipment such as trolling motor, graphs, etc. As mentioned your best 1st step is probably talking with your servicing dealer since they are most likely be the ones that would be performing work under the plans…Sherm
All 2000 and up models should be all fiberglass.
My understanding is that not all 2000s were all glass that why I asked because the boat does not have the all fiberglass construction sticker on it. If I got the serial number would this help?
Serial number would help, then call the factory and check. They can probably research the info on your boat and give you the answer…96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
we would probably have to see the boat to know.
So if it does have wood in it does it carry a lifetime warranty.
Some non current models were covered under date of sale. Though not many were left in stock as the Lifetime Warranty took effect. Those were noted on the registration cards. The warranty technically uses a prorating system by the Lifetime Warranty as in a battery would. BCB utilizes the NADA system for determining values. BCB
