water got into the rear fuel tanks on my puma

Had a situation occur to me last week on family vacation . The house we rented had a very poor docking as a result I had to tie the boat up in a location that was exposed to the prevailing wind . The second day of our trip there was winds of over 30 mph as a result I had waves breaking over the stern of the puma constantly to the point of having the back deck flooded and water up to two inches on the floor at times . Luckily the auto switch on the bilge worked the pumps were able to keep up .The next day I took off to fish and after about 5 minutes of running the alarm sounded on the motor and the message “Water in Fuel” came up on my smart Gauge . I was running on the rear tanks on the boat and to make a long story short it seems that as a result of the waves breaking over the stern water found its way into both of my rear tanks . Thankfully Castaway Marina in Lake George NY was able to get me back on the water in less than a day . I was wondering if any other puma owners have experienced this occurring and also if Basscat has given any thought to switching from the current flip type of fuel cover to the usual screw type than other brands of boats use . Not trying to be negative since I love my boat just curious why they use the flip cover. thanks
