It may have been cause of price. Hell Ron may have said “boys bring me all your water hose we are gonna build boats” who knows. But every bass cat I have seen except the newer boats have water hose in the bilge. Not at all making fun of this seriously just wondering how or why it was done this way. thanks
Probably because it holds up better than any other rubber hose on the market ! Think about it, it is designed for pressure, reenforced with fiber, and doesnt give any trouble,,,,,,why not ?
Maybe they could have used aircraft grade hydraulic hoses, but that would be over kill. Lets see, what runs through these hoses? Oh yes that would be water…. If it works, then dont fix it. georgeGeorge
Ican see what ya mean. Just wondering I guess how it came to be. I see the purpose and the function. I figured that much. Just didnt know how it come about
The 3/4″ garden hose was a Cleveland Rubber Product. In the older days it was way, way, WAY superior to what was used and that was links of Polyethylene hose called Bilge Flex, which is a ribbed thin poly tube, not really hose. The garden hose is more expensive and we used garden hose as long as it was available in a quality product. Though in recent years this changed and we now use a reinforced 3/4″ hose. Most are 5/8″ lines, though we found 3/4 to not bind and kink as much. The garden hose is again no longer used, though we wish it were still available in that quality.
