I was changing the lower unit fluid in my 200 props and am not sure if I has water on not (see pics). I have not had the boat out in the last 4 weeks.
Pictures did not attach. Does anyone know how? It gave me the option to attach files, but it doesnt look like they attached

Photo attach is obviously not working For the most, it looks good, except for some slightly milky film rings that came out last.Is it possible to have a little bit of condensation in the gear case that this could come from?
Photo attach just worked for me. You can attach a file from your PC or phone. Click on Attach, then select your pic and click “open”. (on a PC). or select from your phone. Your pic will upload (wait for it to complete) and then hit a button called “place inline”. Your photo should appear on the post.Take notice that your pic is limited in size to 20M.
Thanks, I guess I didnt wait for it to load.I dont know if you can tell in the pictures, but the greenish white rings in the pan and coming out the drain hole.
Looks like water in the lower unit to me but not a whole lot of water. It might be just starting to leak. I hope you still have the oil. Heres what you do. Put it all in a glass jar and leave overnight. The next day or couple days, you should see the separation through the glass. You might just add new oil and check it often. Maybe if youre lucky it just might have been a bad washer on your screws. When you drain it next time, you will know for sure. I would be very wary of this and check often for sure. How old is your motor by the way. Are you the original owner? If you dont know the history of your motor that might be a factor in your decision to check closely or fix now.
I am the original owner, 2013 P2. I purchased it in 2015 thru Bowden from R & R Marine in Pittsburg. It was a the boat they had at the owners meeting for the 2013 models and it only had 5 hrs on it.The last time it was changed was probably at my 20 hr check in early 2016.The discolored oil actual came out last (picture of plug drain) and I understand it usually comes out first, especially since I havent ran it in about 4 weeks. Any water should have come out first, unless it was so little that I didnt notice it till the pan had a layer of oil in it.
Best answer here is to always (a) trim motor all the way down, then (b) remove lower drain screw while having a tray or something under it to catch what dribbles out. My scheme has been to trim down, let it sit for a day, then remove just the lower screw. That will let any water that has settled to the back of the gear case to dribble out first where you can easily see it. Once a small amount drains out, you can remove the vent plug which will speed things up. Any water will come out first. Unless you have run it pretty recently (say the same day). Then the water/oil will be emulsified and it will be much harder to detect unless there is enough of it to turn the fluid milky-looking. A tiny bit wont hurt. But as it grows, it will ruin the gears / bearings. Better to get it fixed sooner (cheaper) than later (much more expensive).
The motor had been sitting trimmed down for about 4 weeks. I only trimmed it up for 10-15 minutes to remove the prop. Removed lower plug first before the vent but dont notice any water or discolored fluid until at last.I will check it again between my next few trips out to see if any water comes out first.Didnt see any line around the shaft at the rear Seal. Crush washers were yellow (looked like plastic/Teflon?). The ones I bought at a parts shop were blue. Could they have been incorrect and didnt seal?Thx
