Its on the starboard side of the motor, should be a cap with slots to lay a screw driver in to turn out on my 05 it was red. I think according to the manual its every 100 hours.
simple 5 minute check. i do it about every other time i get home from the lake. i think there is a reason gas is sooooo cheap now compared to last year.
When I ordered my 2010 Puma FTD I did not specify a water separator with my Yamaha but it came with the Yamaha one mounted in a very accessible location. Larry Brumley
We can not sell the water separators as those are a branded Yamaha part, or Mercury. We do stock them for an install on OEM use. All Yamaha engines now come with one from BCB per their suggestion. They do not require a separator.
The previous owner of my 96 Eyra put one on the boat sometime before I bought it in 2007. He had it mounted on the transom wall inside the bilge area. Has been kind of “peace of mind” between changing the filter and updating the fuel lines, running sta-bil and quickleen, that I am doing all that I can to keep my old school EFI technology running strong….96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Go to a branded canister filter. You could use a small micron Fram, Wix or other, though the canister Manifold is hard to find usually, so they just go Merc. or Yamaha.
Just so you know, Mercury does not recommend adding additional filtration to there product. They (Merc) say adding it can add fuel restrictions and performance problems. The filtering system that is on our outboards is designed for proper performance and filtration. It is in the owners manual and also Don Weed (Mercury master tech) over on the bbc board will say the same. If you guys are strictly talking Yamaha then that is another story……
