Had a chance to skip work today and took my brother and his buddy out on Lake Erie for some deep smallmouth… full contact style! The winds laid down for the first time in forever and you could tell the fish have not been pressured. We concentrated on 31 to 40 feet and fished a Hammershad on a stand up head and a 3.5″ Texas Rig Jig in Dark Melon colors…. by days end (which was 6 hours) we had 5 triple headers, 19 double headers and our total fish for the day was well over 80… our biggest 5 smallmouth were 6 lbs 2 oz, 6 lbs 1 oz, 5 lbs 14 oz, 5 lbs 13 oz and our bag killer was 5 lbs 10 oz…..lolThis lake is probably one of the worst for getting rough but when that window opens it can be absolutely lights out!JP
