water temps

What are you guys experiencing in MPH drop off in this heat/water temps. I have a bad feeling im losing more power than i should. was in high 60s low 70s in spring and winter down to low to mid 60s now. granted water temps in mid 90s and air 100+. should i be concerned or just anxiously await fall and winter?

you could probably do a search on Lake Norfork and get a water level and temperature update daily at some site.

Water temps are varying right now, but are generally around 50 -52. Weather has been really warm lately and the wind is warming and stirring the water real well. The bite is very good right now. Jerkbaits are taking most of the fish, and the most dependable pattern seems to be on the channel swings which are adjacent to spawning areas. The fish are moving in very predictable pre-spawn patterns and locations. Slowing down and fishing jigs is producing some better fish in the same areas. Considering the conditions of a year ago to date (30 feet high), anglers for the OI are in for a great tourney and the fishing is going to be great. We have two cabins remaining for the tournament. 94 mariner 200 2.5 Las far as setup i havent measured the height to pad was setup when i bought it, then had to learn to drive it which took about 6 months which put me into fall/winter 09 and spring 10. she will scoot but in the last month have been loosing some speed, alot of speed in my opinion (6-8 MPH) and hole shot a little slower. just wondering how much fall off others are experiencing

That is excessive on the loss of performance and we would check the fuel system as well as the compression on the engine, if you dont find an error on the fuel system. BCB

Half of that would be normal, you have other issues.

I have a 2004 cougar FTD with a opti 225 and a 26 fury prop.I am losing about 3 mph this summer with water temps in the low 90sRon

Just run a GPS check on mine. 100+ Degrees and 90 degree water temps and I got 64.5 mph. In the cooler months I hit 67.5 .3 mph. 04 Sabre with an 150 XR-6 and turning a 24 Fury. 3-4 mph seems to be the norm.ElwoodElwood…..Bass Cat Proud

Its all in the air density (density altitude). With high temps and humidity you can easily loose 5%-6% horsepower with the associated loss in speed and/or hole shot. Add Altitude to the equation and this can go to 10%-15% loss of HP!Check everything as others recommend. If you find nothing wrong this can be the problem especially with the heat waves we have experienced.
