I know this has been asked many times over but “What is recommended for waxing my Basscat?” I am looking for something that will maybe help eliminate some light scratches on the gelcoat (from Falcon Lake!). I saw in a car magazine a new system from Mothers called Power Ball 4Paint. It uses a micro-cellular urethane foam on a cordless drill. Has anyone used anything like this and/or is there a better wax to use with a cordless drill system? Thanks for any help, Tony D2017 Eyra / 250 Merc Pro XS
MY SON WAXED MY BOAT WITH ICE FROM TURTLE WAX….ITS SO SLICK NOTHING WILL STICK TO IT……..I SAW THE MOTHERS ADD BUT HAVE NOT TRIED IT….I USE THE MOTHERS WHEEL WAX WITH THE POWER BALL…ROBIN
Did you catch any fish at Falcon while you were there scratching up the boat. Heck, tell us what is important here !!!! LOL Take Care Joey Watts
I use Mothers Gold wax with Carnauba. I think BCB has recommended this wax in the past. Have used it on my last 2 Cats. More to the point……..info, we need info! Falcon Lake! Just to hear someone was there and is posting on this board is cool. Details= you give us info and we detail your boat!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Scratches are removed by using a fine abrasive and a buffer. I prefer 3M Finesse It used with a buffer. Can be used by hand, but is work. Wax/polish will not remove scratches or scuffs.
I love it…everyone thinks the way I do…what about the fish?! We went to Falcon in late February so we were maybe a little early for the full blown spawn but we did catch some good fish. We had a 9.9, a 8.10, 2 7s, and several 5s and 6s. Obviously we did not do as well as most of those guys this past weekend but we caught a lot of fish and a few really good ones. The other thing to mention is that when people say the fish down there fight harder than any others they have ever caught might be an understatement. It is amazing how hard they pull. Just be prepared for the wind. Back to the wax, are there any tips to offer when waxing? Thanks in advance. *We are going back to Falcon in the fall…anyone fished it the fall and can offer any suggestions let me know. Tony D2017 Eyra / 250 Merc Pro XS
There are a lot of great wax products out there that will put a nice, durable, and long-lasting shine on your boat. I believe BC recommends any quality carnauba based wax with a UV inhibiter included in the mixture. My P-III gets a double coat of Pro-Tec sealant once every year. Though its not a true wax, rather a sealant with UV inhibiters. Easy on, easy off, though its recommended you do two applications 24hrs apart. Mike Whitten is also a big fan of the entire Pro-Tec product line. Their vinyl seat sealant is good stuff too! http://www.protecproducts.com/products.html
I too am a big fan of Pro Tec, but it wont work for scratch removal and is not designed to be a scratch remover!
Well Tony, Send it up my way and when I get finished fishing with it…….oh, say about a week on Fork………Ill make it look good as new, if not, Ill give it a few more scratches so theyll match!!!!!!!I use BIG DADDYS wood polish! It depends on the grade as to how much abrasives it contains. You can find it at most southern aquatic impoundments and is in correlation to most flooded timber! If you really want to make those minor scratches disappear, we have a high quality abrasive that is indigenous to our area(as you know!lol) and will make those minor scratches virtually unnoticable! It is called “sucker rod” and rightly named! I think I have mine sold and I need to get to Fork SOON before I have withdrawls!!! God bless Chris
