Getting ready to upgrade to a group 31 start-assessory battery. Getting low volt message in the humminbirds with start up. The Die Hard Platinum is no longer available.
I’m a huge fan of the Batteries Plus X2 battery. I’ve had mine for over 2years now and never even close to an issue with it. I fish a lot of tournaments and put in long days with 12″ graphs, power poles, running livewells etc.
I did alot of research on it a while back, and apparently this is a hard to beat battery. the NorthStar NSB-AGM-31. Probably the highest amp rating all the way around. Just dont throw your back out getting it from the truck to the boat lol. Im running a commerical interstate 31-xhd and it has worked well, running alot of big graphs and cranking. Its more than half the cost of the northstar. Ya get what you pay for though.
Odesy!

I am using Excide Mega Cycle GP 31 AGM for cranking and Optima GP31 for trolling. I bought one trolling battery in 2014 and the other was put in before then, Both are still working great. The cranking battery I replaced last year. The old one was put in the boat in 2008 when the boat was new. So needless to say I went back with the same battery.
I will say I got away from on board chargers in 2014. My onboard charger went out and that is why the one trolling battery went bad. I now use three Schumacher Ship N Shore and have not had a battery or charger since then. It takes about 1.5 Minutes to hook up but the peace of mind is worth it. IMO
my Yamaha is supposed to have a minimum RC of 182 so the only 1 I could find on short notice was a battery from Advanced Auto which had a RC of 210 and have no issue in over a year.
The Northstar is a beast and if I remember correctly the Batteries Plus X2 is a rebadged Northstar but costs less.
Im running the northstar as well. I agree with others its a beast!! As far troller im experimenting with some batteries i had never heard of they were a really good price. They are a heavy wet cell. Us battery
Exide MegaCycle compares favorably with the old DieHard Platinum. We run the MegaCycle AGM with the Opti and two Birds.
Even though some scoff, we just replaced the trolling batteries this past weekend. The Optima 31s were 9 years old. Very pleased with their longevity.

That is correct.
And the Sears PM 1 is still available, just not at Sears. It was a rebadged Odyssey 2150. If you go Odyssey, be sure you have a charger that is approved for it.
The Odyssey and Northstar are both very high quality AGM’s.
The X2 and Odyssey is all I will run never a issue with either just heavy as hell.

Good info! I know cabelas has the northstar rebadged. They call it the x-900. That might be easier to find one if you have a local cabelas and save some coin if you have any gift cards laying around.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I just ordered the battery tray from Allen. Looks like I will have to take a second mortgage for the battery. This board and BCB are THE BEST!!!
Duracell 31 AGM from Sam’s. $179 and is manufactured from East Penn. 18 month free replacement and it has been a great battery for me.
My fishing partner owns a battery shop. We are using the Deka Group 31 with 225 min reserve. Have had great luck with them. Excides are great as well.
