What do you do besides work and fish?

Earlier this month I watched with interest as a thread was started to allow everyone to divulge their occupations. I was amazed as the thread expanded daily for several days and finally ended with more pages of responses than I would have ever expected. Well we all know that everyone on this board LOVES to fish and probably most hunt as well, but what are your other interests? The reason I ask, is that during these off months I find myself with more demands on my time than at any other time of the year. For instance, after 15 years, the original smokehouse I built finally crumbled under its’ own weight. In October after my last fishing trip of the year, I set out to build a new and better smoke house. I finished it just in time to make my deer sausage in December. I have included a link to several pictures of the new smoke house as well as pictures of my first batch of sausage made in the new smoke house as it cures. The last picture of the deer sausage was taken today. They have cured for 6 weeks and are ready to be taken down and packaged. http://s1051.photobucket.com/albums/s42 … =slideshow And today, I find myself getting the garage ready to butcher a couple of pigs this weekend to make more fresh pork sausage and deer sausage. So what does everyone else do with their spare time in the winter months? Besides the obvious, putting line on reels, cleaning and waxing the boat etc. I hope to see everyone at the OI. And, if you see me at the Cystic tournament or the OI dont be afraid to ask for sample of my deer sausage. My P IVs ice chest is usually amply supplied with the stuff! Ill see ya all in April!john

I repainted the out side of my house…it took a while but looks good now.I play a little golf but not during fishing season, mostly in the summer. I live on a lake and hang out a lot on my pontoon with my lake buds.I also own two guitars. There is a difference between owning a guitar and playing a guitar. We have a littel band at work called “The Glad To Have A Day Job Band”……pretty much explains us. We play some at company outings and pool parties, etc. But, most of my time is usually involved with fishing and working with BR200 and his college fishing stuff. My daughter “BR150” and I fish together too and are actually planning on doing some Fishers of Men Legacy tournaments this spring. We fished a few last year and had a good time. The smokehouse looks great.

I play Basketball, Tennis, Do some light jogging and walking, Love hanging out with the family and spending that quality time. But, It never gets cold enough to stop fishing down here in South La. so I mostly Work (alot) and fish. Once or Twice a week I like to take my Beautiful wife to lunch or dinner depending on how Im working (shift worker). Im going to the famous lake Cat. in the morning to try to get me a double digit fish. The bass are in full on spawning mode down here right now. Snowmobile, Ice Fish, spend time with my wife and kids, My son and I rebuild and repair sleds and Atvs and such as my hobby but a learning experience for him, restore some old vehicles and maintain some newer ones many times again for his learning experience at 16 years old he sucks it all up. As a business owner it doesnt seem like I ever stop doing business things. Try to take the daughter out and around and find her interests as well…. as a dad that is harder then it sounds at 15 and compared to my son…..but she likes to snowmobile some and ATV if the ground is clear… other than that her and my wife indulge in spending seems my wife is teaching my daughter that art but it is still cheaper than the toys my son seems to get into….. Anxious for spring this year light winter and just ready to fish…..

Proofreading of intel analysis for a couple of private intel companies; shooting sports; teaching a course in abstract data analysis for corporations. Sometimes it seems I have more to do in retirement than in my working lifetime. I write deep water fishing techniques on a couple of fishing forums.

Shift work eats up every other weekend so I fish as much as I can before my two boys 4 and 2 year olds take all my fishing time with school and sports.
