Topic: What H-bird units will fit my console?

This is not to stir the pot on current issues. Ive been shopping for a unit to replace the LCX-15 in the dash of my 04 Cougar FTD. Which Hummingbird units will fit in the same hole without cutting? Thanks, Ed

Probably none without a backing. The LCX 15 is a taller unit than the 900 series HB and a wider unit than the taller HB units. A back plate should not be hard to find or figure out though. Good luck!

Thanks Phil, Thats what I was kinda thinking from research. Wonder how bad a would look. Anyone done this with a 900 series? And have pics.

Probably not bad at all. Just depends on what you use. Personally I would look at getting some aluminum plate, curved corners, black, and glue it on with that bad azz glue BCB uses.

Not to hijack his post but I have a 2006 Sabre and does anyone know if a H-Bird 798 will fit in dash on my boat?

My 2008 Classic came with a 787, same size and same dash I think. Should work, good luck.

Leave it in the dash and RAM mount an SI model. You can always use the Lowrance as a backup unit but with HB that will probably never happen.

I did it on my last Puma. I cut the hole out of the dash and used a piece of black rubber to fill in the gap at the bottom of the unit. It looked great and you could not even tell. It was kinda like a gasket. I work for a flooring distributor and I used a piece of rubber wall base and cut it to fit. Just an idea.. Sorry I dont have any pics.
