We have a thread like this on my atv forum & its turned out to be pretty cool. One of the longest running threads on the site. Thought Id start one here. I cleaned the river gunk off the sides & wiped her down good w/ some eagle one. Wiped down the motor cowl too. I also ordered new side “Sabre” decals b/c one of them has peeled real bad. Its n there really good though so in not sure if I want to just put the new one over it or spend the time peeling it & cleaning the goo off & then put the new one on. Id like to since thats the best way but… Last edited by polaris425 on August 3rd, 2013, 7:05 pm, edited 1 time in total.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
Pulled her out of the garage, cleaned the carpet. Washed the hull and trailer. Cleaned the livewell, flushed the spraybars. Killed a big ugly bastage of a spider who had set up housekeeping next to the batteries. Installed plug, dumped a little dawn in the bilge, added water, took off to town up and down hills. Filled her with gas, back home. Pulled plug flushed out bilge with water. Slick misted the hull and engine, backed in garage and it started raining. Opened fridge door, removed one each Corona, one each lime slice, added recliner. Couple of steaks are marinading in the kitchen fridge. Life aint bad for us ole geezers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went to work….So I could buy more gas to fill her up..and maybe a trinket or two…
I have my Humminbird 998 mounted on the handrail of my Cougar with a Ram Mount. I was having problems with it wanting to move in rough water so I drilled and put in a “set screw” to hold it in place. It seems like there are always some little maintenance things you can find to do. The gps puck was also a bit loose so I tightened it up.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
put gas in it for the first time, primed the oil system, set it to “break in”, and cranked it. Later on will be setting the remotes for the power poles. Then will begin deleting useless way points that I have on my SD card for the Humminbirds. Yesterday was wax day. Has a couple of good coats of ProTec on it. Next weekend we will see how fast it will run!
Tested a 25 Fury to compare to a 26 Fury on my PII.

I need to get to work on my SabreFTD. Its needing some TLC.
Walked past her this morning and noticed tears coming from the prop from not being used. Got to put her in the water this week.
Took her out this morning and caught 23 slab crappie on Grenada lake, went by on the way home and filled her up with gas, and the changed all the locks to the hatchs where all will be keyed the same.
I plugged her in tonight to charge the batteries and goin fishin tomorrow.
Just back from Toledo Bend, still hot and fishing not to good, I bet I didnt see 5 boats on the lake, brought her home until the fall season and just ordered some Pro-Tec Products to clean her up.
I am waiting for new Cougar to show up, Sold my P IV 3 weeks ago and have been boat less since. Making me crazy! On the good side hopefully its here before Oct.11th because I am headed to St, Clair and Erie for 7 days!
Cleaned up, fueled up, sitting in the cat cave ready to head to Chicot for the weekend. Probably gonna put my stereo in Friday.
Installed a new HB 958c HD DI on the bow. I can tell you one thing it seems Minn Kota could come up with a way to route transducer cables a little better. It sure was a pain on my Fortrex but it turned out nice. Also installed a new lower control box on the TM. Somehow I cracked it. If anyone needs to do this PM me I can give you some helpful pointers before you go tearing into it head first like I did.

My dad and I went once last week and again today. Both times we quit by 10:00 due to heat and the fact that Dads back starts hurting him. Last week we caught 10 with one being over 4 and one over 5. Today wasnt as good on numbers but I jumped one off that was well over 8. I dont think she would make 10 but definitely over 8. Cranking in 8-12 feet. No grass in this particular area even though there has always been grass there. Usually can get a topwater bite early this time of year but I guess with no grass they are out deeper in that spotJim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
