I have an 04 cougar with a 225 opti of the same year. 44 Gallon fuel capacity. Any Ideas how far I can run? Looking to make an 80 mile run and I do not think there will be any fuel on the way. Can I make it or do I need to bring some along? Probably run about 3000 – 4000 rpms most of the time or 25-35 mph.Thank you for any help.

I make a 42 mile run sometimes so 84 miles round trip on about 23 gallons. Thats cruising at 5200 rpms. Thats about 3.6 mpg. 14 puma ftd/250 pro xs.

Never seen someone who can stay between 3-4K who owns a basscat? Even so- I wouldnt do it. Ive run 70 one way with 50 gal and had fuel left but I wouldnt push past 140 total miles with 52 gallons.

Ive done this dozens of times in a puma ftd w 250. At 80 miles running wide open both ways your gonna need 15-20 gallons more fuel. However if you keep the nose high and run about 50 mph (roughly 4500 rpm in my boat) you can make it easily. Keep in mind Im running with 5-7 mph current to my advantage one way and against me the other which should average out. Hope this helps

Thanks for the help guys. I do run a trophy and I run a river that is tough to navigate with moving sandbars. I hope to follow some leaders another 40 miles up the river to learn and gps the main route. And maybe catch a few smallies on the way. 80 miles round trip…..based on all of your information I should be ok.Thanks again.

80 mile round trip? You got that easy! I thought you meant 80 one way!
