What is the best way to keep the white of my boat clean?

I recently purchased a new Cougar, The sides are white w/a slate bolt. I want to keep the white looking new with out hurting the finish of the boat. What product or method do you guys like or suggest? We fish in the bayou so scum stains are the biggest problem.

Ive used Bassboat Saver for several years. My current boat has no white on it, but I had an 09 Baycat and I had an 06 Cougar that both had a lot of white on them. I use the BBS everytime I take it out of the water, takes the scum line off, cleans, and protects the finish. There are other products that do the same, but personally I like the BBS. You will likely get many ideas which will all work to keep your rig from getting stained. I think the key thing is to clean it everytime you use it, rather than to let scum lines, etc stay on the hull for any length of time. Some like to wax their boats and that will help protect the hull as well. I think BCB recommends Pledge to use on the hull also.

For stains use a good hard high Carnuba wax, and Pledge it when you come off the water every time. The stains from tea colored tanic acid stain are best with good wax and keep it clean toweling it down every time. BCB

Ok heres another one… BassBoatSaver. Ive fished plenty of stuff that could be considered toxic- Arkansas River backwaters. It takes the nasty off likety split and after awhile youll notice that the scum line wont even stick to it so well.C.O.D. Jr. III

I can attest to the Pledge, I owned a black with gold flake Champion and pledged it as soon as I came off the water. I owned the boat for 12 years before I sold it and looked as good as new. Steve

Dave, I used hull magic when I had the white hull,wipe on within a few seconds you will see the difference

Youre saying to use regular pledge on it every time and that will not hurt the finish.

I had a white Champion hull for three years. I know what you are dealing with as the Alabama river would put a nice scum line on her. First you have to wax it with a high quality carnuba wax. Ever 4 months or so. Then after each dip in the pond use Bass Boat Saver. If you have some discolor the Starbrite cleaner wax works well to remove stains and black scuff marks.Last edited by Bama96 on January 12th, 2010, 2:07 am, edited 1 time in total.

If the white is already stained, the best Ive ever seen is homemade recipe from a friend in another boat owners group. Mix up a squirt bottle with half Lysol gel toilet bowl cleaner and half hydrogen peroxide. Lightly wet the hull with a garden , spray mixture on the hull and let sit for 30 seconds or so, rub hull with a wet wash mitt (or a soft bristled brush) thats been sprayed with mixture, rinse thoroughly with a hose. I follow up with a quick bath of dishwashing soap water. Works like a champ. The solution loses its potentcy after a day so only mix up what you need at that cleaning.
