First, congrats on your friends purchase. The Sabre/150 EFI combo is a solid performer. And there are several people on here that run them. Now, to help with some of the questions………BassCat doesnt normally recommend a jackplate for the setup, although there are quite a few that have them. The typical jackplate will be a BassCat custom 6 bolt plate. He can order one from the parts department in the part/accessories section of this website. It can only be up to 6 inch on an 01 model boat I believe, and 6 bolt pattern to keep the hull warranty intact. Most manufacturers use a 4 bolt plate, whereas BassCat believes in the added safety of 6 bolts.Does he really need one? What are his fishing habits or what is he hoping for with the jackplate? How much seat time does he have in the Sabre? The reason I ask is also in regards to the 24 Fury prop. What kind of prop is on the boat now, and what kind of performance is he getting with his prop? Rpms, water pressure, speed, how much gear/fuel is he carrying…..all help put the puzzle together. I have a friend with a Sabre/150EFI, his is a little newer, maybe 06-07model. He is running a 23 Tempest. “JStew” on the board here, he can give your friend some insight as well.I have had jackplates on all of my Cats, a Sabre, a Pantera II, and an old school Eyra, which is similar in size to a Sabre. But they all had the max HP on the boats as well. The Sabre/150 is very driver friendly. He will enjoy it!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
