Looking for feedback on spare prop. Running a 24P Fury on a 2021 Eyra with a 250 Pro XS 4 stroke. Turns 6-6100 rpms with average weight in boat. Looking at 24/25p Tempest plus, any info will be helpful, thanks.
I don’t have the same boat or motor I realize, but my 24 Fury and 25 Tempest turn the same RPMs and run the same speed WOT.
Thanks, does your tempest give better lift than the fury? Feel like the Fury is not getting boat high enough while running at WOT.
At WOT I don’t really notice a difference as the aero dynamics and trim of the engine play more of a factor though when cruising I can tell the Tempest has more natural lift with more of the boat riding out of the water which I believe comes from the larger diameter/more surface area. That helps slightly with fuel mileage on my hull and it feels more nimble, hope that helps.
Thanks
I also have been questioning what to get for a second prop. Not really sure what pitch to get either. So I am running a Fury 3 in 26 pitch on my Eyra with a 2cycle Merc250Proxs. My thoughts were to get a Fury 4 in 25 pitch. I am curious what others run.
I was running a 26p fury on my old Cougar and went to a 27p Tempest plus, same rpms as wheelman stated above with the 2 strokes. I didn’t lose much if anything out of the hole but picked up 2-3 mph on top end, lowered motor 1/8 inch on jackplate. Prop man back home said Tempest is better choice on the heavier boats. My new boat has 4 stroke, they are geared different and torque curve is different so I’m getting rid of my 27 tempest will probably go with 24 tempest (24 fury now) after getting feedback from several folks.
On a two stroke we would consider a Bravo.
The Eyra was the most run beta platform for the new 250 Pro XS. Mercury spent hours on Lake X with this hull and engine. Everything unimaginable was run on this hull and the Fury 3 blade in 24” was selected time and time again.

Wow, I wonder how I ended up with a 26inch pitch for my Fury 3! I have to admit that I have never been able to learn how to drive the chine and I am OK with that. I can run it up to about 67MPH before it starts and that is fast enough for me now. I love my Eyra and the way it handles and runs. But, at that being said, I know I have never seen top end or RPM’s which makes it difficult to choose or decide on pitch. The highest RPM I have seen is 5600@67mph and I know there is more. BassCat, knowing this I want to have best midrange and holeshot and maybe a 4blade. What do you suggest for me?
thanks for feedback BCB, the 24 fury is right on the money on my Eyra with 4 stroke, what was 2nd choice? Looking for backup. Glen11 Have you tried lowering the motor on jack plate? I have had a Pantera classic, a Cougar and now an Eyra and all 3 where easy to drive in the 60s. If you are running 5600 rpms you should be in low/mid 70s depending on setup, the Eyra hull is pretty fast and nimble. Everyone I know running 250 pro xs 2 strokes are running 26 fury’s, 26 or 27 Tempest. One friend runs a 25 fury on his Puma in dog days of summer, he has power poles and carries everything but kitchen sink with him!
We would back it up with a 23 Fury 3 blade if we want a variation.
glen11 the two stroke should run a 25” propeller.
Thanks for the feedback BCB! If I were to get a 25 inch pitch, was that for a Fury 3 like I have now. You had mentioned a Bravo1. Would that be a Bravo1 xs or an fs? As I read up on the Bravo1 it recommends moving up 2inch in pitch from a Fury. This all gets really difficult. Thanks for any input.
I have a 2021 eyra/ poles/ 250 v8 4s. garmin force tm, 4 batteries. I didnt like the hole shot on the 24/3 and went to a bravo for a while. I have played with pvs plugs alot on these props. My results were: 25p bravo 1 xs, – on the limiter 70 mph- 6200 rpm. 26p bravo 1 xs, 4 solid plugs two paritally plugged, hole shot excellent, top speed solo was 75.4 @5990. Co angler and more gear 73-74. So far the fury 24/3 is back on the boat, I made a few runs this weekend with cold temps, 75-76.5 mph around 6k rpm. I think the prop could use some work and adding some solid plugs helped my hole shot. The boat will probably push 77-79 when I get a touch more seat time. Have not wanted to press it much past 76.x
I know we have some difference between a 2 vs 4stroke but it seems you have similar results between the bravo1 26 and th fury 24. Your results kind of seem to confirm what merc said about going up 2 inch on a bravo. Which you like better?
