I have been looking at alot of boats in the past 6 months and it seems like almost all the boats that are hanging a yamaha off of them have new powerheads. Im talking 06,07,08 year boats. Did yamaha have a bad run of motors or what?
Those would be older technology big block HPDI engines in Series I powerheads. Series II has a different oil pump and there is an update for Series I style. Just want to be clear that the 200, 225 and 250 SHO engines only came out a few months back in early 2010 on production.
Yes Bassdeer, Yamaha did have powehead issues with Series I engines in those years. From what Ive seen Yamaha has taken care of these under warranty or out of warranty.
