wheels and tires

is there a recommendation on the wheel and tire cleaner ? I want to keep my Eyra looking as new as I possibly can.

It will be a trial and error or measurement as we have not done larger on that model. BCB

That is a tough one, and some cleaners are alright though they need to be rinsed off the wheels pretty quick to prevent tarnishing. The tires are not a major and most of the silicone spray preservatives will not effect the wheels, though the Bleache White and other tire cleaners will.

Unfortunately the only thing that will help keep those pretty aluminum wheels shiny is a healthy dose of elbow grease and mothers aluminum/chrome polish. Ive tried some others but Mothers seems to work the best. Ill admit Ive let mine go a little lately. Not the boat but the wheels. Ive grown weary of polishing those rims all the time. BCB, How about the Sharkhyde on the aluminum wheels, Do you think that will work? On tires- theres simply nothing better than-Wet tires downSOS pad with soap in it- get your elbows ready! White letters go back to white!Wet offIf you like the drier look Id go armor all onlyWet look Id go with a tire gel that you apply with a sponge.SOS trick was taught to me by fellow basscatter James Hooks! So Bleche White is not recommended? All products “say” they are safe,on all types of wheels.

No dont use bleech white. It will stain your wheels. Anything more than soap and water and elbow grease will do work in places it doesnt need to do work! SOS pads are OK to use and thats about as hard as I would go!

I would never use SOS pads on the aluminum, however. To really get your wheels clean (this is labor intensive and NOT fun), you can use Coopers aluminum polish. It is found in most truck stops. I have my tractor trailer polished at the wheel polishers in Arizona and they use a two step process. First, they clean the wheels with hydraflouric acid, which will cause the wheels to turn gray (the acid causes the aluminum to oxidize). Then, you have to really rub the aluminum polish on the wheels until they turn black. Then, take a clean cloth and rub the black stuff off. Unless you are really energetic, I would not do this. ANY type of acid based cleaner will discolor your wheels, so be sure and read the ingredients. I have polished my trailer wheels a year ago, and they still look good. Would I do it again? Nope! Too much work!

We have not used Sharkhide, though we do think it would work.
