I have a 97 Jag with a 97 Merc EFI 225. This is the 2nd time the motor shuts of while Im wide open. The 1st time, I took the cowling off and found a spark plug cable came loose. I put it back on, and it started right up. Yesterday it did the same thing. I spent about 20 minutes looking at the motor and couldnt find anything. I would like to know if there is a manual or something that tells us the meanings of the different kinds(sequence) of alarm beeps??? Im getting this right now Beep…Beep……….Beep——— Beep…Beep……….Beep Thanks, Rick
There is a large “cannon” plug inside the cowling that connects the ignition harness to the engine. The small prongs in the male side get pressed together (pins) and must be opened up with a small knife blade. That is the most likely issue.
You bet! Been there, dun that! You still should spread those pins apart some. They are not making good contact, and put some petroleum jelly in the end pieces. BCBLast edited by Bass Cat Boats on June 23rd, 2008, 2:09 am, edited 1 time in total.
