Looking to upgrade from my 04 Classic. So which boat has better ride and handling in rough water? Talking about Grand Lake in Oklahoma during summer weekends.
Pick the lay out which you like the best and youll be more happy with your decision. The rides are about the same and unless youve been in both for a fair amount of time you probably wont notice much difference between the two.
Thanks for the info!
1 thing that you will read if doing ALOT of research is guys that previously owned the Legendary Champion 201,202 hulls LOVE the way the BCB 20ft hull slices the Waves, stays on the waves not in them, and keeps you DRY, BCB really works on giving you the Total Performance Bass Boat, meaning in ALL areas, not just speed, or acting like a Dock (R boat), they offer the Total package, not too mention all of the other BCB features, All glass construction, Vacuum Bagged structure, Best gel work in the Biz, and Fishermans layouts…..Have fun shopping, if you order the Regular Puma is the least expensive, and your local dealer may be able to get you special incentives, depending on the age of your current boat, Military or adoption program. Or call Ivan at the factory, 870-481-5135……Brannon
I have not been in a Cougar, but do own a Puma non FTD. I Chose just like Phil said because of how it was set up. I do like the gas tank under the seat when fishing, the bow is a little closer to the water. Im short leave me alone, Phil can bungee jump of his deck he is so short. (The Deck Phil). I can see a little differance with the boats in the water, but I dont know if one cuts the waves any better. I have two friends that own Rangers. We were in Lake Eufaula about 28 miles from the launch in 3-4 white caps. When we got to the ramp they said they will never own a Ranger again. Serious people think BassCats are expensive. If you could see what goes into these boat, there under priced. Im telling you, The Folks in Mount Home build Personality in these boats. My baby, she just loves to scream. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Rusty
Im definitly sticking w/ Basscat! I just dont know whether it will be a Puma or Cougar. I would like a 21 footer, but it wont fit in garage. I may wait till fall and sell my boat myself so there will be less out of pocket expense.
Sir, Ive owned both models and will give the “Better Ride” nood to the Puma FTD if for no other reason just the extra 80 pounds of the boat, check the speces. The hulls are the same just the storage lay-out are different. Find someone or a dealer to give you a ride in one or both and pick your colors, motor and other goodies and have done with it, youll like it!Good Luck,Chuck
There is no better ride than the Jaguar and on Grand Lake that would be smooth, though garage limitations are real time and it is very nice to be able to just walk into the garage to work on your gear no matter the weather. BCB
Ive never ridden in a Puma or PumaFTD. I have had two CougarFTDs however. I had an 06 and now have an 09. The 09 has a slightly different hull than the 06. But both boats have been awesome in rough water. Amazingly dry ride and handles the “big stuff” very well. Last month I was coming down the Tensaw into the wind and with the current, probably 2-3 waves. I was able to get it on top and run about 45mph. I passed a couple of other brand rigs going back to the ramp. Both owners had to come over and look my boat over pretty extensively. They had neither one seen a BassCat up close. They were very impressed with the way my boat looked as I passed them.
Do you still have your 04 Classic? Im looking to purchase a pre-owned Pantera right now.
