What causes the white top cap of a boat to start turning yellow? Its only along the top of the gunnels and basically along the edges, also along the rear deck lid at the splashwell. Boat is a 1996 sabre and ive kept it waxed regularly with pure carnuba wax. Anyone else had or having this problem??? What can be done to fix it?

I have a 96 Sabre also that started yellowing also. I just wet sanded it then buffed it out but it only worked for a couple of years. I just wrapped it now and it will never fade again. Great boat these Sabres are.

Acid will take the stain off. I would just be very careful. U can buy it at Home Depot in the pool section. I would wax it real well after using the acid.

I used a product called NuHull on my previous Cat. The hull had yellowed badly. NuHull took off the yellow stain and the white hull looked new. It also removed all other stains including scum lines. You can google the product on the net. It is made by a large commercial cleaning company.

Some of the older resins they used back then yellowed, my old 91 PII seemed to stay yellow, but my 01 PIII hasnt seemed to yellow at all.

No matter the boat brand or the gel coat, they are a polyester and they will all yellow some. You just notice it on White where some colors dont show that as the color hides it.
