Picked up a new Puma last Sept. It came with a 26p Trophy. The boat would not run better than 71 (GPS)Empty! Needless to say, I was dissapointed. Then I borrowed the 27P Trophy from my the guy that bought my old boat. With a full load of tackle and gas I was hitting the 74 mark. I had a lot of both bow and stearn lift. Probably could have done better than 74 with practice but it was real loose. So I bought a brand new 27P Trophy, it runs better than the 26p, 72.5 but not as good as the borrowed prop. So, I need to tweek my 26 or 27p to in hopes of getting them to run as good as the borrowed 27p (tried to talk him out of it already)Who have you had good success with? Thanks
Check Performance Props in St. Charles, MO. Im on my 3rd Basscat in 20 years. He has worked on many props for me over the years. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Phone # is 636-949-3121. He is a racer himself and works props for many of the guys he races against, they even beat him sometimes. He will do anyone proud, you cant go wrong.
Bob Lipton is the man who trained me into the propeller world. Very excellent at blue printing. He comes from the racin world too. It was a true honor for me to have him train me for 4 years.
I had 2 props worked, both 23 P tempest +s. Rich Boger and Mark Croxton. By far, Mark did the better job, and for less money and super fast turnaround. They can be found at BFHP and BBC.2005 Sabre, 150 XR6, Minn Kota Fortrex with Lowrance electronics
Check out Hydromotive Props…….. But remember, these arent your everyday prop companies. Boger, Croxton, and Hydromotive are the major players in the game, and all can have different ideas. I know Hydromotive really takes each setup with an open mind.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I hear Kroxtons name alot. But I assure Bob Lipton is right up there with him. The man is so busy he does hardly any advertsing. 24 years experience he has it to a art. I have watch the man fix props that you would not think that could be fixed. Stainless folks has memory you can do a pitch change and the next day some might moved a 1/2 pitch. Some trophy 25s have 25 26 25 26 every other one is different. This is my 7th year in props I do some tinkering on my own.Ballastic props are good props look at one close and the edges taper down. Hard to weld thinner than tig stick
Thanks all. The weather is cooling and the jet skis are staying home, time to start playing.
fishinfool145,There are an assortment of really good shops and here is a rough list of some we know of. Not mentioning Boger, Croxton, and others already mentioned. The stars are noted.Port City = ArkansasDyna Prop = MissouriPrecision Propeller = Tennessee (NR)Phils = *CaliforniaGibbs = ArizonaMazco = *MissouriThere are plenty more including a few local shops. Though this list will get you a tweaking that will help most.BCB
As mentioned above there are many people who have the talent off blueprinting. I would not consider myself a blue print man. Make sure who you choose has a minimum of 20 years experience. Bob Lipton 636 949 3121 I will stand behind his work as I have watched first hand.
Ronnie Gilbert – Lafayette, LA. – (337) 235-5761Ive used him on 3 different occasions and hes improved mine each time. He just did a 27 Tempest for me and waiting to see what it will do.
