Wife had bad wreck….insurance question…re:Nationwide

Glad all are seemingly alright! You should be fine Gary as your wife is not at fault apparently. Things will usually work out fine as they have the obligation to your family. They can pay off you on your vehicle or seek replacement. You can also find a suitable replacement vehicle and inform them of the status. They are not obligated to upgrade your vehicle and your issue will be the true value in todays market. The depreciation due to economy and fuel prices were not the fault of the insurance company and the replacement would be your easiest source to cushion an potential loss. There are plenty of knowledgeable folks with insurance and legal experience on here. One will pop in and give you a more thorough solution.

I am going thru the same situation right now. My wife was broadsided, not her fault. His insurance company, progressive settled extremely fast upon confirmation of the vehicle being totaled. They gave me full retail value with no depreciation except for the mileage calculation. They included total retail, better than the numbers I was able to find on NADA, KBB, etc. They took into account all the upgrade packages, alloy wheels, 2 tone paint etc. They even gave me $43 to replace my BassCat stickers!!! Thanks Progressive. They are paying all of her medical bills without question. They suggested she go to physical therapy and they are paying direct on that. They have recommended after she feels better in a few weeks they will discuss the medical settlement. All in all, except for be uncomfortable and sore for my wife, it hasnt been a horrible experience. We got the check 5 days after the accident, which happened on a weekend. They gave us a rental as well. Truck has been replaced….2006 F150 crew cab with 18k miles. Stellar condition almost like new. Tows the Cougar pretty well. Good luck! I hope your company can be as good as Progressive.

My wife got rear ended 12/17/08 on Hwy 49 in Richland MS. She was sitting at a red light and he never slacked up and hit her at 45 to 55 MPH. She is basicly OK but it took until 1/19/09 to get a check on the property issues and we still have not settled on medical. His insurance is Allstate and I cannot say that they were helpful in any way, stalling at every turn and only gave a low average on the vehicle value. Best of luck in MS. Mike
