Hey Guys, I have begun to have major wiring issues with my 99Cougar. When I first bought it as a demo (repo of floor plan from previous dealer)….I was informed by the dealer installing my new engine that the dealer having the boat repod took a lot of shortcuts when removing the Battery Charger, Fishfinder, Flasher, and engine. He noted that all the wires going to the engine gauges were cut at the gauges. So they had to work through all of that wiring mess. I am certain that this is definitely NOT a BassCat quality problem. A couple months later, the computer dash failed, horn stuck ON. Thomas Marine replaced it…BassCat covered the expense. Happened again a year or so later and was replaced with a Touchpad…no charge. Believe it or not…the touchpad failed some time later and Thomas replaced with very moderate charge to me. It appears to be a problem that Thomas never really isolated; although all systems appeared to be GO after the panel replacements. Now it is probably 2 years later and I have had cascading failures in my wiring system (Recirculating livewell pump not working [still works when corrected direct], horn not working, manual bilge pump stuck in on position [had to unplug it yesterday], rear navigation light not working, accessory plug not working, and in-dash flasher not working]. These failures were months apart. I just havent broken down to take it in yet. But now with no bilge and navigation light, I have to do something. It appears that I have some serious short-to-ground issues or goodness knows what else at this point. (I still have automatic bilge, but really want to be able to press a button and run it out) Question: Would I just be better served to have the whole wiring harness replaced at this point with all of those issues? Sounds like a monumental troubleshooting job to me! p.s. I love my Cougar! Great ride…still get lots of compliments.Last edited by Basscat Dan on March 9th, 2008, 3:00 pm, edited 1 time in total.
