Yamaha 150 HP outboard rubs hard when trimming down

I was wondering if anyone knows why my Yamaha 4 stroke 150 hp outboard rubs hard on the right side as it is nearing its down position. Has about .100 gap on the left. Thanks

Can you feel it or hear it rubbing while trimming down? Or just see where it has been rubbing on right side more than the left? Engine torque will cause it to wear more on the right side. All my boats have done it. But, if you can hear or feel it while trimming, you may have something else going on.

put some grease at the ends of the trim ram bars

I will add a little to wat Phil said. When putting grease on the trim stem rollers at the top roll the steel ball forcing grease all the way around just as if you were packing a bearing. When Im fishing hard I do this once a month. You dont have to gob it on . It only takes a little. I been doing this for yrs. Alot of times it will sound like chatter when operating the trim. Really appreciate the responses. Just to add a little info, The outboard and drive work smooth until it starts to enter the ram bars. Using the control on the motor you can feel and hear a clunk as the unit enters the ram bars. Ill try to figure out how to add a picture today but I can see where it has rubbed pretty hard on the outboard side and the ram side. I have added grease but I really dont think it should be this far out of alignment. Does anyone know if there is some simple adjustment for this? Thanks for all of your help.

Year model and engine hours would be a help.There shouldnt be any adjustments to make. This might be one that a Yamaha wrench needs to take a peek at to see whats going on.

The engine was purchased and installed on a 2008 Sabre, in April of 2012. The Model number is F150TLR, I do not know the hours. However, the general condition of the motor is excellent. Thanks,

Id hit the local yammer dealer for a look-see. Sounds to me like something is worn and has let the motor shift to one side very slightly in the tilt bracket. Dont know enough about rice-burners to know exactly how the motor and tilt bracket fit together, but if it is touching, and there are no nylon rub pads where it touches, something is off…2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
