BCB, I know you are probably sworn to secrecy but why the Hell would Yammie test the best built bass boat, a BCB with a 100hp less than rated outboard? Granted your hull will probably be just as fast as the Texas brand, but that just sounds retarded….Why not a Pantera 4, Pantera 2, or Classic? I take it you had no choice they simply asked if youd participate in the initial launch, but whats known? 3.3liters, 3 liters, 5 valve heads, titanium and magnesium used throughout? I hope they are using the CLE type of case, you know the prop lineup will have to change, but luckily they have Turbo….their has got to be some details, not weights or nothin that can be shared? Color appears to be similar to the old vmax, grey, midnight, red, but seriously what the hell is gonna happen do you think in 4 years? I mean we cannot just sit here and let companies use Car motors marinized to propel High Performance motors, thank god BRP did not go down the EZ road, I mean I know BCB and I disagree on the Etec product (for some reason) yet I feel they are truly the only company that is supportive in future 2 stroke development….Mercury insiders told me that the Optimax is Wayyyyyy past its expected lifespan, the Verado was supposed to replace it but we know how that worked out…I just dont get why Merc would dump all 2 strokes, youd think theyd take that 15yr old Orbital Technology and tweak it for 2012…maybe they will but im a bit leary of all of this…..My buddy on Screamandfly.com is posting some insane numbers with a Box Stock 2.6liter 150 (not HO) Etec….heres the link, Im not starting a war, but are these guys and true sports folk gonna use the new 4 stroke technology? I guess we will see, heres the link to Sam Bakers Ally-Shot, top cap from a 1/4 shot hull from a Allison…..heres the post…. http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/s … p?t=194362 Mercury and Yamaha guys please check out that screamandfly.com post, I thought it was very cool and shows the future of our sport, no matter if were fishing, draggin, skiing or just lounging, its nice to know we can still go fast and stay with a 5yr warranty…..This was not meant as a Bashing Post, just wanted to know my Yammie Info and post this link…..Brannon
Brannon this is not 1986. You know 4 strokes are the future. Yamaha will get it right. The 2 strokes will be a thing of the past when they do. Nice avatar. Finally!
That post reminds me of struggling to read a Faulkner novel in High School…Last edited by TNcat on October 28th, 2009, 1:37 pm, edited 1 time in total.
laughing at TN cat!!!
If it was Rude coming out with this Brannon would be all over how it was going to smoke Mercs and Yammys. I would be interested when they get the bugs worked out and it was as equal to the 2 strokes on hole shot and top end and cost was lower.
For selfish reason I would love to see BassCat do a quick switcheroo and rush in a PIV or PII for the soon to happen “GameChanger” 200 evaluation. Comeon BassCat pull some strings and make it happen it would be interesting to see if PIV/PII would run even with a Ranger and 225 Four stroke….. I would not be surprised at all if it happened if new 4Stroke 200 was on the back of a Pantera family boat vs. Ranger with 225. HOMan (BW), Interesting thread. That 150 HO is smokin fast! Getting back to the new development. Its hammerin time with the new 4MAX. Its good to read something new with OEM motors. Lets see if this has legs and pushes the envelope with Evinrude and Mercury. We the consumers gain from it. Is Merc up to anything new? What about Evinrude and Etec Technology? Any news do share and lets not let this turn in a flaming topic. Hmm…. I think I am kidding myself. Flyswatter.
Well guys before Everyone jumps down my throat, so far NONE of you even know what the outcome of the “Gamechanger” will be….Shoot for the last couple of weeks Ive been posting excitement about the Soon to be released V-Max 4 banger….And Bama 4 stroke is not necessarily the answer….see guys I noticed Yammies big boy v6s are 3 star, but as far as Ive known not all of the big 4 bangers are 3 star…I love Yamaha, guys Ive had yamaha snowmobiles, 3 wheelers, Dirt Bikes, Everything but a outboard, but Ive only owned 1 outboard my whole life, before it was inboards…anyways all I was posting was some facts and opinions….Yamaha typically does use the Big Boy Heads, hell they made the motor in my Toyota Celica GT-S with VVTL.i…..Yamaha buiilt the Ford Taurus S.H.O. 3liter and 3.2liter v6, granted they were only 225hp, yet they were smooth as all get out and very reliable…..as most of you with a F225,F250….and Bama, your Grady is Sick as Hell….I see just because I posted some more Evinrude E-TEC information, granted this is a Bass Boat site, but who wouldnt think a STOCK 150 V6 would be competeing with True Racing 2.5s with over 280hp at the prop….I know Flyswatter was not offended, guys I just cannot win…..Tom, Evinrude is not making ANY 4 strokes, they only have 1 2 star motor, the 300 DPL, which is not really a factor….Tom im like you, I want to talk about current technology and proven reliability….granted the 4 strokes have less powerhead issues, but when you talk to a Real Tech, he will mention the heat issues out there, electrical gremlins, One smart Tech once told me a smart statement, “boating is a luxury not a necessity, take up camping if you want a Reliable Hobby”…..these darn motors break, the electronics are a COMPLETE joke, anyone not miffed when they dump over 3k on a Plastic TV that shows the bottom, and its GPS signal never works right, the unit breaks or they go thru 10 Pucks, 15 Interlink boxes, or the company just doesnt answer the phone unless you know the Queen B….all im sayin to the Doubters is that Im a excited salesperson, I would love to chit chat with any of you on the phone about how and where I come up with my LIES, I just want EVERYONE on here to be clear on 1 thing, Im not a guy tryin to deceive people, im not here to pick fights, im not here to make you all upset, Im here to learn about stuff I dont know, fishing, and high performance boat driving tips and setup secrets…..Guys Im a ROOKIE, I do know alot of High Profile Engineers,Testers and Ex-Employees of Mercury and Evinrude/Johnson….Tom, when you have time see what you can find out from our Buddy Scott….I do hope Yammie is using the 10% Rule to the Limit, like Evinrude…also use that kick ass lower unit from the Big Block HPDIs, modify the colors from the current Vmax, and make the V Max lineup sound like a High Performance V6..Ive heard that these guys have been testing this motor in some capacity or another for Years…..I know as you all do that the F115, and F150 were instant Home Runs..heck the 150 has passed several 150 XR6s in my presence and almost every Opti we raced….the F250 is a great motor for Bamas boat, but as you all know a Deep V Barge and a 1600lb Pad V Hull is totally different….Thanks guys for listening and giving your opinions….Sincerely, H.O. Man…….. /////
Brannon, Breathe,,,,,calmly breath, now do it again, and again. Now doesnt that feel better ? You get yourself work into a dither on some of these posts, and they become hard to read thru, so please, slow down and address the topic, or at least one topic at a time. You have some good info., and are appreciated by many, but please speak slower !
