saw your post. hope things are well.i was able to get up to da bend for the new moon at the end of march. we fished the texas side south of the bridge and palo gaucho. best day for numbers was the friday before that wicked storm came through. we lost count of the total, which is always a good thing. caught several throughout the day on lizards and wacky worms, then caught a bunch just before dark on topwater, that nasty weather struck about ten minutes after we got off the lake. we actually had a tornado rip though about a quarter mile from our camp (near alpine marina), and the power went out friday around 8:30 pm. (when we left sunday night, we were still without electricity, and my brother-in-law said it was monday evening before it was finally restored).anyway, saturday was an average day. we found some smaller (2-3 lb) bass in the little pocket just to west of the flat on the southside of pendelton bridge on the texas side. ended up with about 16-18 fish by just circling in there about a dozen times. most came late in the day by throwing texas rigged lizards right up on the bank into flooded grass.. kudzo seemed to be the color of choice.sunday late morning was great. we fished right behind the camp and caught four four-pounders, a five pounder, and a six pounder (male) that was hanging with a 10-12 pound female. tried to catch the female for two hours, but could not get her to even think about biting. she wasnt really locked onto a bed, but was roaming an area that was about 20×20 in three feet of water. threw everything in the tackle box at her (except a stick of dynamite), but she simply wasnt interested. man, she was HUGE. all the fish we caught sunday came on plastics.was supposed to head back up this past weekend for the full moon, but family responsibilities put the kabosh to those plans (the forecast made it a little easier to cancel, as well). my guess was there was going to be another wave moving up to spawn, but im wondering if that cold front backed em back out again. im itching to go on the new moon in a few weeks, weather permitting. will keep you posted
