Hey everyone! My name is Dan Yonan, and I am 15 years old. I am very much so into the sport of fishing. I am from Illinois, Near Chicago. I just need to know where and how I can get into some tournaments. I just learned that IHSA (Illiois High School Association) Has approved Bass Fishing as a Sport! Isnt that so awesome! Whenever I found this out I was so excited. So, I am definately looking foward to that. But, All I am looking for is somewhere to fish with my dad and have some fun.Thanks so much! Welcome to the BCB board Dan. The best advice I can give you is ask at your local boat dealers or tackle shops and join a bass fishing club. I am not sure about your area but most areas have several different clubs to join from individual to team events. Go check a few out and see which one fits your wants/needs. That should get you fixed up on a good start to tournament fishing. Judd Lasiter

Its great that high schools are getting into the swing of things. I myself have a 15 y/o that is in his high school fishing “club”. Not as organized as high school v. high school, but more of a gathering and sharing of info with some tournaments by club members.Judd is right, local tackle stores, boat dealerships can usually help with finding out about clubs. Some clubs prefer a “team” format, so you and your dad could participate as a team. You can always check with your state bass federation to see if there are any youth chapters as well. http://www.ilfednation.com/. Im actualy a member of a jr club in NY if i were u id do sum researching online for local adult clubs in ur area and see if theres a jr. club to and join that. thats wut i did to become a member of the club im in now i wish NY high schools would approve bass fishing as a sport LOL.

Dan, You can also visit the Bass Pro Shops in Bolingbrook IL. They can provide some information regarding weekend tournaments etc. Many small clubs in area will fish lakes like Braidwood, Heinecke, Shabbona, and even the Desplains conservation area (Illinois, Kankakee river areas) I live in Bolingbrook so if you would like meet at BPS let me know. Might want to check high school regulations about competing in Tx with prize money. I bowled in the mens league with prize money in which that made me ineligible for high school sports.
