We have a Family Member who would like to know the best accommodations at Zapata. They are doing a round trip on Amistad and Falcon. They have accommodations at Amistad. BCB

Just tell them whatever they find that we are all jealous. That is one place I have to make sure to get too soon!!! I think we need a basscat owners getaway down there.

Im headed down on the 7th of Feb. and staying at a place called Oso Blanco. http://osoblancolodge.com/ I havent stayed there before, but the guy going with me stayed there last year and said it was older but clean.

Im down at Falcon right now and there is a nice Holiday Inn express right in town, close to the county ramp. There isnt much down by the state park that I know of and its about 30 miles on hwy 83. There is also a Best Western and a couple of other older place here but the H Inn looked the nicest to me. Beats the beacon for sure.

I swear my posts are disappearing…BCB messing with me??? Scsiman is right Holiday Inn is the newest and nicest, Oso Blanco as Scott mentioned is middle of the road and Lake Front Lodge is cheap but still clean. At the level the lake is now all ramps are usable so not much of an issue there. Good luck. Judd Lasiter

Scott M, Oso Blanco is alright. It is old, but they are fixing it up and it is clean and have there own ramp that is in good shape with the high water. When are you going to be there? May have a chance to meet. We were there first part of Dec. and would stay there again. pant 2 Bob Ooops, just saw the date in your post. Will keep in touch

Holiday Inn Express is real close to boat launch too. Great fishing in that area! Our guide took us just under the bridge into a cove and we had 28.5 lbs before 8:30 in the morning….. We culled 4lber all day!!!! That place is unreal! Do not use anything less then 20lb flourcarbon. I had one snap me off at the boat. Instant aggression beyone anything I have experienced. If you flip and you should use nothing less then 60lb braid. You have to try the towns country fried steak. Its awesome and only 8$. I forgot the name but everyone in town will tell you. Also, get the small plate because you will have hard time finishing your meal. Even after a full day on the lake. Good luck! misr12

I go down there regularly and always stay at the Oso Blanco. Good parking, big rooms, and the new owner is a nice guy. The chicken fried steak referenced above is at El Pariso on the edge of town toward Laredo. As good as the fishing is, I still think the lure of that cheesy chicken fried is just as tempting.
