Zebra Mussels

The suburban lake I live on is getting crazy about preventing Zebra Mussels. They are targeting fisherman and as the only tournament guy that takes my boat on and off the lake regularly I am in the bullseye. We have great fishing here (20-25 lb sacks about any day!!) so I am all in on protecting the resource but want to get in front of this before they close the ramps or something like that. I understand how to clean the boat/trailer and the recommended drying time but my real concern is about the bilge and livewells. I drain both before I leave the lake but there is always a little water left in the bottom and/or the hoses. Is there a cleaner, additive or spray I can use in the bilge and livewells to kill these little devils? Thanks for your help.

We put some in a 18% chlorine solution for a week and that didnt kill the adults. I am not sure about the larvae but the boats are notall of the problems. Any bird or animal can carry them just like a boat so Mother Nature is also part of the problems.Johnny

Sandlin, I retired in Feb. 2006 but I am still employed as a contractor. I am a turbine/generator project manager at some of the gas plants.I live across the Lake from the plant where I retired in Graham. If they keep tearing down the gas plants I wont have anywhere left to work.LOLI take it you probably work at Monticello or one of the mines around there.Johnny

Electrical Superintendent in the mines. Lots of talk around here about another buyout if that happens I will have to change my name to Luminantex. LOL

I was the machine shop supervisor and they came in one day and said we are getting rid of all the supervisor but 2. We had 6 at the time, so luckily I got what has been the last buyout in the gas plants. I was 58 so it was great for me.I live on Lake Graham so I can fish anytime and I can see 4 holes of the golf course off my back porch. I also playa lot of golf. From what I hear there isnt going to be anything done until after the bankruptcy. Then who knows.Oh yeah tell Charles Koudelka hello for me. He will know who Johnny is.Johnny

We are closing one of our mines and the craft folks are voting tomorrow about severance package. Just hope they offer to supervision a package.

Yeah I live at Lake Winnebago too. Havent had a chance to say “Hi” but its nice to have another Cat on the water.
