I have a 2000 Classic that came with this unit in the dash. Loved the unit when it worked!!! I tore the temp sensor cord last weekend after hitting a stump not only on this unit but my new HB 597 ci HD DI unit. Flasher seems to still be working ok except no temp reading or back lighting? I checked that the yellow wire from unit that is suppose to be connected to the white with black stripped wire to boats lights. backlighting still doesnt work. I think the lighting has been an issue with these units in the past if I recall some old post. That green hue just doesnt come on anymore… I called Hummin Bird CS – they no longer repair or carry parts? I checked ebay and had no luck either. Does anyone know if I can purchase the actual tempeture sensor /probe and just wire it in existing wire/unit? The wires were cut just above probe but not enough to spice etc. Seems to me there has to be an easier solution then pulling the unit out of dash and purchasing a new unit. Already purchased the new transducer for the 597 at BPS $150. Costly weekend muskie fishing in Eagle River Wisconsin.. ThanksSam
BassCatSam1, Just call BCB Service and tell them what you are looking for exactly. They may have some options and they did keep old units around for guys like you. BCB
There are a lot of anglers that dont use flashers anymore. I like them. I figure if my Lowrance 1240 A finally dies, Im going with this one…..http://vexilar.com/pages/products/products_fl-10.phpHad a model like that on my 89 Sabre. They are the bomb!Im sure BC can point you in the direction of the probes/wiring. Good luck!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
If you cannot find one at Basscat, I may be able to help. I believe the temp sensor and transducer are both wired together at the plug for the unit, I will take a look out in the shed and see.
A flasher is what I used ~80% of the time this year.I wanted to get back to the basics of the hunt.Wind, clouds, seasonal pattern, gut feel. That, and I mainly fished the river which I have no need of a sonar.
I did not get out to the shed to see if I still had one because I got called to work again, and am now working a little ways north of Mobile, AL. I will see if I have the assembly when I get back home.
