Out on the red river today beginning to get ready for the ALBC Best 6 in couple weeks. Current pretty swift and was headed south in the pool i was in takin it easy at about4800rpm and looked n noticed i was doin almost 70! lol…well i had to let her go and before i got into my limiter i passed 77.6 mph. i know this is not regular speeds on regular days but im posting for the fact that it was A BLAST to do it and that stability is still great. Running low trim with a fury really helps for sure. Blakesfav, would love to have your boat out there. Mid 80s!!! Oh, i did catch 20 or so to make the day sweet!
May go run it tomorrow just for the heck of it!Fishing CMN next weekend?
15 yr anniversary. May bring a rod n fish off beach. Goin to Destin, FL. She is a beach fly! lol. Good luck if you go. Those fish should still be where we caught em when we went.
EXACTLY what I needed to know! Thanks! Congrats on the anniversary.
Thats a awesome speed.I had a good day on my new P-II yesterday as well. I had a stretch where I finally had it wide open without any chine. The nextsyslink recall showed 69 at 5735RPM with my 25 Fury. I was pleased. Probably the best Im going to see.
Great thread, be safe, put the pedal to the metal and you all are BassCat Strong!
Ricks PII will just fly. He has it set up perfectly and can flat out drive it. Worst part for the rest of us in his fishing club, is that when he stops it he can fish even better than he drives. A good ambassador for BCB on all fronts I must say!
Its amazing how important seat time is for going fast… Last year when I got my PII I didnt have a problem getting it to 71-72 but I couldnt drive it very long once I got there. This spring has been great for me on the river learning to drive at these speeds and learning how to make corrections actually before you feel a correction needs to be made. Ive been running 70-74 fully loaded and feel better about it the more I do it. After about a year of playing and tweaking with my JP I think I now found its sweet spot. For me it was sort of a backwards process as I did the traditional raise the plate in 1/4 increments till you find the sweet spot and for whatever reason I never felt that I found it until I started bringing the plate back down. Whats funny about it is that it is at damn near the same spot as when I picked it up from Sherm! Moral of the story is that some of us who think we know how to drive (including me) actually need to just get good at driving before we think that messing with the setup will provide a fix.

GCHagler has hit 76 with out current with his PII/200Merc…. Chris would have his PII/200 ProXS howling up there I bet. Hes got his dialed in mad crazy good.Bama96 has hit 77.8 very cold day light load with 1/2 tank plus of gas, very little to no current with his PII/200SHO during our prop test day together. I wasnt in the boat but we did record our runs that day on the Humminbirds. That four banger was growling in that frosty cold air. Run the sucker hot and hang on! I did run the stew out my 200SHO 20 Eyra with cold air and current hitting 76 for chits-n-giggles one day. That Eyras hull has not reached it full potential yet IMO. I bet RP would agree. As a follow up and in all fairness Chet and I had early model SHOs and they were hotter then current SHOs…. Going forward, good thing knowing most anyone setups will hit 70 plus with little effort if they can drive and control chine walk. These boats are dynamic with great motor choices. Also, I know the 200 Etec is flat BA motor and would do similar numbers in these conditions too. All in good fun and great point to be made. These are not regular numbers but sure is fun to vroom on the H2O with current moving. I bet one thing is consistent in all these setups…. Merc Fury props are on all their boats. With some seat time and boat motor setup folks can go faster if they like but the depth of BassCats boat extends past the need for speed with their quality build and ride with all their boats. Im telling you the SabreFTD Im in right now is dynamic and routinely can get over 70 mph with a 175 motor with proper setup and prop and mid sixty dry air temps.
This past Sunday while headed to the ramp after fishing a three day TX on Sam Rayburn I decided to see some speed. Two people, full live well, approximately 40 gallons gas and full of tackle. 2012 PII with 200 Pro XS, 25 Fury 1/4 trim. I hit 65 with a lot left in the throttle, no chine walk. The trifocals were in the glove box and the eyes seemed to be fluttering so I could not focus to see the speed on GPS any more. Awesome feeling to have the control my Cat has.
